The Dahl Arts Center was
constructed to house the Cyclorama, a 200 ft. mural of American
History with special narration and lighting. The original center included
two art galleries, classroom space for arts education, and a 156-seat
theater. The main structure is currently undergoing renovation and
operations have to the adjacent facility at the corner of 7the & Kansas City
Street. Once the renovation is complete and the new events center
constructed in between, the Dahl Arts Center will be one single building.
Our galleries house temporary exhibitions and sales,
and the Dahl stores and periodically shows over 120 pieces of art in its
permanent collection of works
by regional artists. Artists from the area, region
and nation
are invited to participate in group and solo artist
exhibitions. The
schedule also includes national touring
exhibitions. School and visitor tours of
the Gallery and the Center are conducted throughout the year
by
volunteers and staff.
Services to arts organizations and artists are
available, as well as professional development workshops, assistance with
grants and cooperative marketing.
Arts education classes and
workshops, as well as special
events, theater and musical
performances are held year round at the arts center.
Annually, more than 60,000
people visit the Dahl or
take part in community arts outreach events such as
the
Black Hills Bluegrass Festival,
Music in the Park, Dahl Music Series, Banff Film Festival, Children's Theatre Series at
the Civic Center
and other activities.
